2006 Allowable Rental Increase
The
guideline is the maximum amount that most landlords can increase a
tenant’s rent without making an application to the Ontario Rental
Housing Tribunal. The 2006 guideline is 2.1% and is in effect from
January 1, 2006 until December 31, 2006. This would mean that a
landlord who charges $800 rent on a particular unit could
lawfully—with proper 90-day written notice– increase the rent on
that unit to a maximum of $816.80.
